How many Bentley Community accounts do I need to have?
I was under the impressions that the Ideas section was a function of the discussion boards and the online Communities. Why am I being prompted to create a new login?
Matter of fact, why are the Ideas in a separate area now, and all dated for a couple of weeks ago?
If I were more conspiratorially minded, I would think this was done to make it more difficult to submit and support ideas. Especially since it appears we can no longer easily tell how many of them have been requested for YEARS.
Please fix this, and fix it soon. We should NOT need to create an entirely separate account to vote on Ideas. Those ideas come from these communities, and they should belong to these communities.Moving them to a separate area with a separate login all but guarantees that most community members will not even know such Ideas even exist.
It comes across as another tone-deaf "solution" to avoid having to answer to the user base. Communication and collaboration between Bentley and the User base has gone downhill for over a decade and gotten even worse since the release of CONNECT.
Hi Mary,
Thank you very much for your feedback and we are sorry for the inconvenience. We have migrated our ideas to a full lifecycle product management tool called Aha (more info on their ideas feature here: https://www.aha.io/support/roadmaps/strategic-roadmaps/ideas/ideas-introduction). This enables you to get full access to the lifecycle of that idea, including a notification (that you can turn on/off as you like) when the idea changes status to "future consideration", "already exists", "planned" or "shipped". This also allows us to reflect ideas that become features (fixes and/or enhancements) in our roadmaps and present them to yourself and other users.
I am really sorry that you have to create a new login to register new ideas in the Aha powered portal (available here in communities: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/i/ or also as a standalone page: https://microstation.ideas.aha.io/). This is just to guarantee that we have your updated details for communication and to guarantee the safety of your data.
I hope this covers your concerns, but more than happy to have a chat and discuss ideas you submitted as well as your usage of Bentley products.
Best regards,
Eduardo L
I have no power here, but this answer is not acceptable. My Bentley profile is updated. You have my "details for communication".
Separating the Ideas from the Community all but ensures that the Community will not regularly access those Ideas.I don't even recall any announcement that Bentley was removing the Ideas from the Community, and certainly no announcement that we would need to create yet another account.
This is poorly thought out, poorly implemented, poorly designed.I don't know who is making all these decisions at Bentley, but you are running your user community into the ground.

Hello Mary, ideas are available within communities at https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/i/.

It's "a view to system in another system" approach ... is it really a presentation of serious project? Really? As Tim wrote, congratulations for great UX team work.
Two separate navigations?
Two independent searches? It seems searching in BE Communities does not work with ideas, which makes it even worse.
All links are hidden, so it's even impossible to copy URL and post it back to BE Communities discussion just to know other such idea exists.

Another "great feature" discovered: When editor is switched to full-screen mode, it's ... nowhere, just disappears. Tested both in Firefox and Chrome.
So, if I can access them through the Bentley Communities, I should be able to interact with them through the Bentley Communites. If it is a community function, it should be accessible through my community login. Bentley already has my account and my information, and should be able to use that to authenticate me to your fancy new Ideas server.
I would be interested in an opinion of somebody with better knowledge of area like GDPR, because it seems to be more like phishing (aka Facebook way):
When I enter my e-mail at the page mentioned above (https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/i/), this "sign up dialog" is displayed:
There is no information (warning) provided that it's the login to not Bentley systems and credentials (e-mail is treated as personal information by GDPR in the most of situations) will be managed by completely another system.
It's clear that a user is misled that he is still on BE Communities server, because BE Communities URL is still displayed.
With regards,
