A TrueType font library that provides drafting and other CAD symbols

Some time ago I posted this Idea.  The Ideas Forum has been updated and shows a post date 27-Jan-21, which is the date that the Forum was updated, not the date that I created that idea.

That Idea also shows my suggestion to be shipped.  If that is the case, how can we obtain that TrueType font library? Do you have any comments, ?

  • Yes, PennDOT has their Engineering Regular & Engineering Vert included with their Workspace files, but have not fully implemented them yet. We are still using the .rsc fonts from their legacy data until the TTF is fully implemented.

TrueType (TTF) fonts are a standard feature of Windows

Yes, we have them installed on users machines, but some of our subconsultants may not have them yet. Anyone who will be working on this project will need to acquire the fonts for compatibility.

    Microstation CONNECT - 10.17.2.61

    ORD - 2021 R1 10.10.1.3

    ORD 2022 R1.1 - 10.11.3.2

    ORD 2022 R3 -  10.12.2.4

    Microstation v8i SS 10 - 08.11.09.919

    Power InRoads v8i - 08.11.09.615

    ProjectWise - 10.0.3.453

  • I think there should be a font that could be used in any drafting or other software (text, spreadsheet, pdf-annotation). Ideal would be if the OS (Windows, MacOS, ...) would include that.

That's what TTFs are about, right? (Not proprietary solutions)

For the time being one fdot font could be a good one (I would fancy unslanted though as you can ITALIC any text in the editor, right?).

To send it out with the file (and other resources) use File>Packager for the time being.
