However, it seems that in Connect the "View previous"-command is limited to 20 steps.
In V8i I cannot recall such a restricting limitation. Is it possible to go further back than only 20 steps?

It's not possible. The 20 limit was chosen because it seemed like a reasonably high number that didn't needlessly waste memory for view delta states that would never be accessed.
Instead of clicking view undo more than 20 times, you might want to consider creating some saved views?

So something was possible in 32bit V8i became impossible in 64bit CE. Such improvement.
Yes, it was an improvement to put a limit on the memory used for view undo to 20 for each of the 8 views.
Do you really click the view previous button more than 20 times? Raising the limit (or even removing it) would be trivial, but I question the use case that requires it.
Thanks for your comments.
Working with dozens of references inlcuding houndreds of levels, permanent zooming and scrolling it is common practice for me.
Working with saved views takes to much time.
If it is trivial to raise or even remove the limit, kindly advise, how to do so.

It's not something you can change (refer to my original reply).
The "trivial" comment was directed at the other poster in regards to changing the software, I apologize for the confusion.
That's thing though Brian. Critical improvements that have been requested for eons were never acted upon. While "trivial" things I couldn't care less about seem to get all the attention and effort. Did I click that "view previous" more than 20 times? I sure did. It's just part of my work as a designer. Why didn't I save those views that I wanted to get back to? I don't have that level of hindsight.
V8i recommended memory is 4GB, while CE recommended memory is 16GB, and we worry about memory?
