Why can't dimension in a Microstation drawing snap to points of a DGN Reference?

Good Morning,

When I dimension in a MicroStation Drawing I cant snap to points of a DGN reference, as shown below.

I would like this dimension to a point shown in red colour.

Please can somebody advice if there is a setting that I haven't turned on to make this possible?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Andrew G.

  • It is in reference manager and it is the "Visible Edges" setting of the reference.

  • Requiring this setting seems anathema to proper and expected use of Cached/Dynamic. I would expect both to work equally well.

Can someone discuss why only cached works? This may explain some funny results I get trying to dimension 3D objects in  DRAWING MODELS. They do not appear to retain ASSOCIATION, but I haven't dug deep, just worked around for now.

FWIW. I am using CE U14.02, but will be reviewing if U15.02 resolves the ITEM TYPE issues I reported, so we can updagrade.

  • We've had this issue with dynamic/cached views for multiple years now given our deliverables are always cached it wasn't a big deal but I don't disagree with the sentiment that both should work equally well.  I figured it was somehow isolated to just our office given I never saw anybody else complain about it.  So +1 I guess for fixing this bug.  Also, accusnap is awful in big complex models I don't know how people work with it and have confidence in the output.  I never turn it on in drawings or models and find it as a "work around" to be an awful ugly band aid on the situation.
