Hi Microstation Gurus,
We are considering to upgrade an Oracle database currently working with our MicroStation V8i SS10, but not sure whether the new version of database can work with Microstation V8i SS10.
We found that the Oracle Client 12.2.0 supports most of the higher versions of Oracle DB, so if SS10 can properly work with Oracle Client 12.2.0 (aka version 12CR2), the database upgrade should be Okey.

However, in a year 2010 post I can only confirm that MicroStation V8i is compatible with Oracle 11g, not Oracle 12 or above.

Considering that the post was written in 2010, I think there maybe a chance that SS10 also works with Oracle client 12.2.0, but couldn't find any documentation.
Do you have experience using MicroStation V8i with Oracle Client 12.2.0 or above? or do you have suggestion about where to find documentation?
Thank you!
Sui
Unfortunately I think Bentley will most like recommend using Connect edition as no further development has been done on V8i even after ss10 was released...

Hi Sui,

This topic was discussed several times and the results are not clear. It seems, because V8i SS10 was released in time when MicroStation CE was intensively marketed, technical V8i documentation was not updated.
Technically MicroStation engine is able to support Oracle 12 client, because Bentley Map V8i SS10 provides this support officially.
Also, when you will search this web, you will find some (but not too many) discussions and experiences, e.g. this one, where MicroStation V8i SS10 + Oracle Client 12.2, connected to Oracle 18c is mentioned configuration.
So even when you will be probably not able to receive "official support statement" for Oracle Client 12, there is a hope it can work ;-)
With regards,
Jan
