First off: I am using Microstation connect. I am operating locally, not on a server. I have "Auto-save design changes turned on."
I just had a crash and lost about two days of line work from my dgn. Im not sure how this could be considering the auto save function. The thing that is really strange is I've opened and closed the file multiple times over the past couple days so I know it has been saving the data. For some reason its all gone now. To be clear, the file isn't blank. It's as if it reverted to a state from four days ago or so.
Any one have any clever ideas how to recover my missing data?
Hi David,

Even when not probably important in this discussion, it's recommended always to specify the used version exactly. There have been released nearly 20 versions of MicroStation CONNECT Edition so far, and as you can imagine, the current version CE U15.2 is very different from the original CE "version 0", released several years ago, in terms of features, stability and performance.

The only way how to recover data is to use backup (when it exists).
DGN is binary proprietary format (even when based on Microsoft compound file specification), so when anything goes wrong, there is no tool (other than MicroStation itself) how to access the data.
What you can try, but I guess there is low probability of success, is to open the file as reference and if you have also MicroStation V8 installed, to use vrg tool (but usually this tool only crashes MicroStation).

I have witnessed this is almost every build including 15.2.
Tried vrg but this tool is next to useless. Hence why I added an idea to get a proper repair tool added to the base software.

It is clearly missing some correct error handling on file save as crash shouldn't cause lost of more than couple of last changes.
