First off: I am using Microstation connect. I am operating locally, not on a server. I have "Auto-save design changes turned on."
I just had a crash and lost about two days of line work from my dgn. Im not sure how this could be considering the auto save function. The thing that is really strange is I've opened and closed the file multiple times over the past couple days so I know it has been saving the data. For some reason its all gone now. To be clear, the file isn't blank. It's as if it reverted to a state from four days ago or so.
Any one have any clever ideas how to recover my missing data?
HI David,
David Trotter said:This is Microstation Connect Update 8 - Version 10.08.00.37
It's quite older version. Even when still quite buggy, the current Update 15 is for sure better (performance was increased substantially and also it contains less bugs).
David Trotter said:Also, I doubt this is of any consequence but all the line work I lost was on one level.
It can be: I can imagine that when level table is corrupted, elements still exist, but do not belong to any level (because e.g. its definition was corrupted/removed), so they cannot be displayed.
Is anything displayed in Message Center when the file is opened? The links shared by Andrew Bell whether any problem with level table (the part where levels are defined) are detected.

The missing data is related to orphaned/lost streams in DGN OLE structure. You could try to open in Teigha Viewer.

It is clearly missing some correct error handling on file save as crash shouldn't cause lost of more than couple of last changes.
