Recently my ability to change the Z Origin of text in Properties->Geometry has stopped working. I can adjust other element's elevations just fine, but text no longer works.
This is file specific and also effects new files from seed. Some existing files it works. Other files it won't. I can adjust it just fine in existing problem files with ORD.
What setting got flipped where the ability to change this to 0 broke?
Thank you!
Microstation CE Update 15 - 10.15.02.11
Thanks for the example DGN file. I am able to reproduce this issue with the modification of the Geometry of this text in MSCE U15.2. Not sure what is causing this but I did notice that the Z value on these items have a negative 0.000 value. Were these text elements imported or placed in the design file using the XYZText tools or possibly using another custom tool?
I have raised this as a defect to our development team to investigate.
Defect 1128448: Cannot Change Geometry Z Value Of Text In DGN Files
RegardsAndrew BellTechnical SupportBentley Systems
I noticed the -0.000 value as well, but didn't know what it meant w/regard to the elements. I also notice it quite often...
Every bit of text in the example DGN was placed as a normal text element (not text node) in the file. It may or may not have been elevated at some point. It may or may not have been un-elevated at another. The file may or may not have stopped working at some point, in either MS or ORD Connect, leading to this issue.
Follow-up: I recently updated a user from U13 to U15 and the capability to set the Z value of text (but not text nodes) stopped working. This is definitely a program update issue where a new version broke the capabilities of a prior one.
How does this keep happening?
Two versions of MicroStation have been released since this Defect/SR was filed. Still has not been fixed.
Company really needs to stop backslapping itself on the Socials over awards and such, and get the programmers to tackle these defects and SRs for paying customers and users.
This is also now an issue in ORD, because one is built off the other.
After upgrades try to do "restoredefaults" as seems the personal.upf changes structure between versions and also cause weird issues.
