Disable last command entered

I am currently using MicroStation connect v8 and I am brand new to MicroStation coming off of 30+ years with Autocad so if this question has been answered then I apologize.  My question is How to I turn off or disable the last command that I just selected?  For example when I select a command and it executes "said" command, it then leaves me in "said" command.  I would like to turn this feature OFF if possible. thanks

  • Afternoon Brad,

I believe what you're looking for is the "Reset" button, which by default is the Right Mouse button.  But I could be wrong with what you are asking help with.

Yes, MicroStation is Button happy and "loves" dialog boxes which are overloaded with options upfront, which is daunting at first for new users.

FYI:  When you ask for information about MicroStation make sure you are clear about which version you are using either "CONNECT" which is the latest & greatest or the previous generation "V8i" there are similarities but there are a lot of differences too.

Peace, and Welcome to Bentley Family... come embrace MicroStation

  • Hi Brad,

MicroStation is a tool based software. Whenever you select any tool in MicroStation, a tool settings dialog box appears. After using the required tool, it will remain active until next tool is selected. However, you can go to File > Settings > User > Preferences > Input > Check mark the option for 'ESC exits command. Again, go to File > Save settings. This will make 'Element Selection' your default tool settings dialog box, whenever you are in a different tool and press escape.

  • How wonderful to be a part of a community with quick and accurate responses.  Kudos goes out to both Grot (love that name) and Karan.  Both are correct.  However with one caveat.  Grot - yes selecting the right mouse button does in fact stop the execution of the command.  Partially.  If I select the Line command and place a point and then I click the right mouse button it does in fact stop the command however it leaves me still in the line command.  It is still a viable answer.  Karan coming from Autocad and hitting the Escape button for 30 years that is the first thing I researched and I did in fact find it and it gets me out of a lot of situations.  Therefore, at present moment I am going to select that Karan has satisfied my question and both of you pointed out two great options.  Thanks again gentlemen.

  • Grot I really appreciate it.  Nothing like being able to save time and be more efficient.  As far as versions? Yes, I now understand.  We happen to be using:
    MicroStation CONNECT Edition.
    Thanks again

  • If you do not want tool settings dialog box to bother you on the design canvas, you can try to dock it in your interface.
