Hello,
We are starting to transition to Connect from SS2.I am setting up Item Types (we used to use tags)
Is there a way to report a station or station range of a line or shape? I cannot find anything logical in the syntax expressions that could do this.
If this COULD be done, it would be a game changer.
It would help with detail tables and quantities.
Thanks
Station ranges suggest you are using a Civil package? Which one? There is a forum dedicated to the Civil products: https://communities.bentley.com/products/road___site_design/f/geopak-inroads-mx-openroads-forum
As I understand it, Item types refer to the element itself, not its relation to other elements. I could be wrong...But if I'm right, then Item Types probably cannot report a station because the station is not an integral aspect of the element.

Hi,

What exactly you would like to do and what output is expected?
The problem is that you are asking about specific civil / surveying feature (moreover, sensitive to national standards and project context) in general MicroStation forum. To share an example file with e.g. manually created output or at least screen capture would help to understand your question better.

Once you attach ItemType to an element, you can fetch properties of the element on which ItemType resides. You can also use GetRelated expression to traverse to related element and fetch its property and do the in-line calculation. If you could share a sample dgn and a small video explaining what the station is and what are you expecting, we can try to help.

Tell us more about GetRelated. It's not mentioned in MicroStation Help.

Jon, follow your own recommendation: Ask in new post :-)

GetRelated* (e.g. GetRelatedItem) is mentioned in expressions examples. But not documented in detail.
My experience is that without very good knowledge of how EC relationship classes work and particular context analysis, it's very hard to write such expression.
