Custom line type ends

I've see some line types with custom ends different from the rest of the line type ie - - - - - - - - - @ where the "@" would be different from the rest of the line type none repeating. How is this achieved. What are the steps required to create custom or special ends ?

  • In the CONNECT Edition it might be easier just to place the symbol/cell on the of the line end with the Place Active Line Terminator tool (in the Cells ribbon group). The terminators are now associated with the lines on which they're placed.

can you make a  little demo of this process?

  • Here you are Lorys.

The Place Active Line Terminator tool has been around since IGDS, and works basically the same as it always has.

    1. Select a cell in a cell library and make it the active Terminator cell.

    2. Start the Place Active Line Terminator tool

    3. Configure the tool settings. Just like in the Place Active Cell tool settings you can click the Browse button (... button) to open the cell library dialog and set the active terminator cell here.

    4. Identify the line at the end where you want the terminator placed.

    5. The cell is placed at that end and automatically rotated to match the direction of the line.
    6. The new part starting in MS CE Update 7 is that the terminator cell is now automatically associated with the line on which it is placed. If you move/modify the line, the cell goes with it and reorients to match the new line direction.

  • Awesome as alway Rod, Much prefered work around than custom linestyle as most of my work is client standards driven  so NO NEW CUSTOM linestyles allowed  only the DOT provided ones as we give our work back to them in dgn  and they dont  update their library to all consultancies ...
