Undo Solid Extrusion

Question

Is it possible to undo a solid extrusion to return the model back to only the profile? I have already saved and closed the file, and am opening it back up and would like to get rid of the solid extrusion and just retain the profile.

Hi Steven, 
 as Jos&eacute; wrote, without knowing what version you use and whether you created Smart Solid or Parametric Solid, your question cannot be answered. 
 In general, when a file is closed, Undo cache is cleared and lost, so no undo is possible. 
 Smart Solid does not remember how it was created, the concept is more like "sculpting", when the solid mass is modified by different tools. 
 In contrast, Parametric Solid remembers all steps, both operations and input elements. It means you should be able to identify the original profile in the solid tree structure. 
 Be aware the workflow can be tricky a bit for the first sight: 
 
 Expand the parametric solid tree 
 Find the profile 
 In context menu, select Show Input Element option 
 The tree is probably refreshed in this step, so choose the profile again 
 The profile should be highlighted (including handles) in views 
 Using mouse, use right mouse button to open the menu, selecting the highlighted profile in the view 
 Select Copy option 
 Now standard Copy Element tool is started, so define start and end point

 It's always best to follow Forum best practices and tell the forum which version are you using. The solution (if any) isn't always the same.

 If working with any CE version and with parametric solids it's possible to show the original profile. 
 See here and here - this second one it's a solution for a different question, but you see the glyph in solid and profile center where to Show Input Element - the profile that you want.
