Text Editor Line Length is not wrapping up text to next line

I have set up on advanced text style line length to 150, but it's not wrapping up the text to a new line. If I use the selection tool set to single and select the text I don't see the edit handles.
Using Microstation V8i SS10.
Thank you!

  • Do you have the handles disabled in the Selection Settings Dialog?

  • I enable the handles, but still line length of 150 format is not working.

  • Hmmm, not sure about this. I remember something in the past with the Line Length parameter having issues and for some reason I thought it was removed.

Have you tried setting your text placement method to Word Wrap? When you select Place Text you can go to the settings dialog and set the method to Word Wrap. You place a dynamic box on the screen (looks like you are drawing a fence or dragging for a selection set). Then type in your text and the lines will wrap automatically. Once the text is placed you should be able to highlight the text to see the edit handle to adjust the size of the box. The lines of text will wrap according to the new size.

  • Something else that may be relevant with your situation as I am experimenting. I do not modify the line length so I am not very familiar with the setting. When you set a line length or just place text (without using the Word Wrap setting) the edit handle appear for me, but I cannot use any of the handles except the ones to scale the text up or down. You cannot drag the extents to make the placement box larger or smaller. So you not being able to see the edit handles for your text is irrelevant unless you are trying to use them to change the scale of your text.

Placing the text with Word Wrap enabled should allow you to drag the extents of the text larger or smaller.

  • Perhaps no help, but I use the line length feature all the time. But I do it a bit different. I edit the text, go to the key-in window and type LL=150. Works fine. If you can get that to work, you should be able to match it to your Test Style.

  • I was able to get the line length set while I was experimenting early with the keyin, but setting it in a text style didn't seem to work. I think the OP is more concerned with accessing the edit handles when the text element is selected
