Hello,
As a former AutoCAD user, I like being able to use the Escape key to end the current command. I already know how to allow this in Workspace>Preferences>Input.
I have also played around a bit with button assignments and can see how that works.
What I cannot see, however, is a way of assigning the Escape key to a mouse button, so that I can use a side button to end a command. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm using V8i.
Thanks for your help.
Robert
What do you need the esc key to perform that the right-click (reset) button does not do?
Microstation CONNECT - 10.17.2.61
ORD - 2021 R1 10.10.1.3
ORD 2022 R1.1 - 10.11.3.2
ORD 2022 R3 - 10.12.2.4
Microstation v8i SS 10 - 08.11.09.919
Power InRoads v8i - 08.11.09.615
ProjectWise - 10.0.3.453
The right click, reset button keeps the current command active. I like to have no command active when in between commands. Comes from being an AutoCAD user first and foremost, I guess.
But MicroStation does not have "recent commands" as AutoCAD has. I am also a former AutoCAD user and I prefer the behaviour as usual.
The most annoying for me is that ESC key does not unselect all as AutoCAD does with ESC key so I use CHOOSE NONE Keyin in F1 key.

Sure it does. MicroStation's command window expands to show a list of recent key-ins. Pressing the keyboard up-arrow and down-arrow scrolls through those key-ins.

Yes, but if you press the "Place Smartline" button its key-in(command) is not added in the key-in window just if you type a key-in...
Ok, so change the key-in string to "reset, choose element;select none;null". This will initiate the Element Selection tool to clear anything selected.
Just noticed there is also a key-in "nocommand" ("reset, choose element;select none;nocommand") that seems to be the same as "null".
I'm not sure about the "recent commands" other than with the key-in browser where you can use the up/down arrow keys to recall key-ins. Maybe you can post that in the Ideas Forum. If there is enough support Bentley will consider adding it. In v8i I was pretty much only using keyboard mapping for all my commands so I had no need for "recent commands" as it is quicker to hit 2 keys to call up a tool. CONNECT has the same ability. There are many dual platform users here that would probably welcome the recent commands ability.
