Can I assign the Escape key to a mouse button?

Hello,

As a former AutoCAD user, I like being able to use the Escape key to end the current command. I already know how to allow this in Workspace>Preferences>Input.

I have also played around a bit with button assignments and can see how that works.

What I cannot see, however, is a way of assigning the Escape key to a mouse button, so that I can use a side button to end a command. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm using V8i.

Thanks for your help.

Robert

  • Ok, so change the key-in string to "reset, choose element;select none;null". This will initiate the Element Selection tool to clear anything selected.

Just noticed there is also a key-in "nocommand" ("reset, choose element;select none;nocommand") that seems to be the same as "null".

I'm not sure about the "recent commands" other than with the key-in browser where you can use the up/down arrow keys to recall key-ins. Maybe you can post that in the Ideas Forum. If there is enough support Bentley will consider adding it. In v8i I was pretty much only using keyboard mapping for all my commands so I had no need for "recent commands" as it is quicker to hit 2 keys to call up a tool. CONNECT has the same ability. There are many dual platform users here that would probably welcome the recent commands ability.
