Microstation user for 12+ years, have never been able to figure out line style scales. I get files from different surveyors that I have to standardize. Some files I just can't get the line style scales to work right, even though every toggle and setting seems the same. In these files, I reference in a standard file that looks correct. However, when I copy lines or inherit properties from lines in the sample, they are too small by a factor of 12. Here are all the settings I have gone through to make sure the files are the same:
There still seems to be some setting that is causing the lines to be off by a factor of 12.
My intuition is there is a feet and inches issue at play, but I can't figure out where
It could be the scale factor definition when the line style was created was different. I recently upgraded our line style library to be used with CONNECT. The issue was not that the line styles were created in v8i. The issue was in v8i the scale definition for drawing was 1 inch = 1 foot. With CONNECT that change to 1 inch = 1 inch. So any line style I displayed from the v8i line style library was off. I had to recreate all the line styles at 1 inch = 1 inch.

So why would it work in some drawings and not others?
I'm using Illinois DOT standards, so I can't really customize the line styles
Not sure. One other thing to check, if you didn't already, is to use the Element ID and check the Line Style Parameters. We had a sub-consultant who was changing that on each line element and it threw us off for a while. Even copying the lines into our active drawing retained this setting as we did not know this setting existed.
