Microstation user for 12+ years, have never been able to figure out line style scales. I get files from different surveyors that I have to standardize. Some files I just can't get the line style scales to work right, even though every toggle and setting seems the same. In these files, I reference in a standard file that looks correct. However, when I copy lines or inherit properties from lines in the sample, they are too small by a factor of 12. Here are all the settings I have gone through to make sure the files are the same:
There still seems to be some setting that is causing the lines to be off by a factor of 12.
maybe post the reference file and the design file you are copying the lines into ?

I did confirm that the line style definitions are part of the .dgn file. Switch the elements to another line style and using delete unused linestyles removes the internal definition and reapplying the line style works with the library.

I would agree with "mwlong" I believe the two different files received there common linestyle named lines from different resources.
I would also agree that since the graphics look the same and it is mainly a scale issue, the that two were created based on different resolutions.
Tim Hickman said:the linestyle resource you provided does not contain any of the needed linestyles.
I noticed that with my last exercise. The Underground Electric is missing. Deleting that definition from the file I was not able to set that element back to the electric line style, but the bylevel setting was underground lighting which was available.
Got it. I was unaware line styles could be defined within the drawing. Thanks
they can exist in a resource file, a DGNLIB file or the active file (or referenced file).
When duplication occurs, it becomes difficult to determine where the linestyle is coming from (not impossible).
Its kinda like what happens to a cell. It can exist in a cell library, a DGNLIB, a DGN, a reference and none are "connected" so each individual instance is technically a different cell (even though they may have the same name).
