Stacked Fraction

Set up a custom unit label in your dimension style so that there is a space before the " mark.

Thanks Rod, but that will add a space after the fraction. I need the space between the inch number and fraction (between 10 and 3/8).

What version of MicroStation are you using? 

V8i SS4 version 08.11.09.832

I can't replicate that look. It has to be something in the font you are using or some setting in your text style.

The text appears to be italic, or have a slant angle applied. If you post the file with the example shown I can take a closer look.

Thanks for providing the example DGN file. Lookin at the font being used on the dimension text it appears to be using the Arial font. This is relating to the inter-character spacing between the numbers, letters, symbols etc. that are contained in this True Type Font. You can test the same operation by placing the same text in a MS Word document and see how this is the same as in MicroStation. The only method I can see of placing a space between the number and the stacked fraction symbol would be to use another font with different inter-character settings or, as you have done, edit the text to include a space.

Thanks, Andrew. Unfortunately, I can't use another font because this is the DOT standard font. Do you think I can modify this font and make it work?

If you customize any font (TTF, RSC or SHX) you will need to distribute that font file to anyone else who will use your drawing. I'm also unsure how to modify a TTF font, but I'm sure that information is out on the internet.

There are editors available (e.g. Fontographer) to create or modify a TTF font library.

That's the rub. Most users are perfectly content with the font (e.g. Arial) that they use today.  Instructing them to use another font — similar but with a tiny space before a fraction — will be difficult.

In the language of font design, that's termed kerning.
