Hi,
I don't know if this is possible but I'd like to setup the ribbon such that it's normally minimised, and is only displayed when a certain key on the keyboard is pressed and held, the ribbon would close when the key was no longer being pressed.
I've had a look at some of the documentation but can't see anything obvious, maybe it could be done with named expressions?
I'm using Microstation Connect update 13 if that makes any difference.
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Mark,
Do you want to do this ONLY by keyboard?
To do similar workflow by mouse clicks, discussion on this forum post might help:communities.bentley.com/.../596749 Note that there was a bug regarding this in Update 13 which you are currently using.
Hi Karan,
No it doesn't really have to be a key press a mouse click could also work, I just find that the ribbon takes up way too much screen space and so would like it minimised when drawing etc, but easily available by clicking and holding a key/button when I need to select a tool.
Thanks for looking at this by the way and providing the link, I'll definitely have a good look at that thread.
Karan,
I've had a look at the thread you suggested but it doesn't help with what I'm try to achieve, having to first move the mouse cursor over to the small arrow and then left click it, before I can then move to select the tool is a pain. It would be so much better if I could just bring up the ribbon with a key press while already moving the mouse towards the tool I need.
It doesn't sound like much but if you're a heavy user then things like this quickly become very frustrating, and to be honest if I can't get things to operate differently then I'll just end up going back to V8i.
PS I've not noticed the bug that's mentioned in update 13, the ribbon always seems to stay in the state I've chosen even after opening a different file.

Yes, surprisingly (at least for me ;-) it is.

There is always a threat that the discussed feature was fixed / improved / changed in a newer version, but I assume it should be fine in this case.

There is no key-in to minimize and restore ribbon available. But you can use a side effect of another key-in, that you can assign e.g. to function key:
ribbon activetabdisplay
When this key-in is used (pressed, not held), the minimized ribbon is displayed and you can select and start a tool from the ribbon. When e.g. data point is used, the ribbon is returned back to the minimized state automatically.

Hi Jan,
Thanks so much for this, I've assigned activetabdisplay to the ` (tilde?) key which makes using microstation much much better, it doesn't work exactly how I'd imagined but is probably better as I don't need to hold the key down.
I don't use key-ins in microstation so never would have considered that command.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
