Hi,
I don't know if this is possible but I'd like to setup the ribbon such that it's normally minimised, and is only displayed when a certain key on the keyboard is pressed and held, the ribbon would close when the key was no longer being pressed.
I've had a look at some of the documentation but can't see anything obvious, maybe it could be done with named expressions?
I'm using Microstation Connect update 13 if that makes any difference.
Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, surprisingly (at least for me ;-) it is.

There is always a threat that the discussed feature was fixed / improved / changed in a newer version, but I assume it should be fine in this case.

There is no key-in to minimize and restore ribbon available. But you can use a side effect of another key-in, that you can assign e.g. to function key:
ribbon activetabdisplay
When this key-in is used (pressed, not held), the minimized ribbon is displayed and you can select and start a tool from the ribbon. When e.g. data point is used, the ribbon is returned back to the minimized state automatically.

Hi Jan,
Thanks so much for this, I've assigned activetabdisplay to the ` (tilde?) key which makes using microstation much much better, it doesn't work exactly how I'd imagined but is probably better as I don't need to hold the key down.
I don't use key-ins in microstation so never would have considered that command.
Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

be aware MicroStation is historically "key-in first" product, where icons (tools) only visually represent existing key-ins (and much more have even not graphical equivalent). Even though MicroStation CE breaks this "tradition" and there are more settings and features that cannot be accessed by key-ins, it's still powerful MicroStation feature (allowing e.g. to create completely own GUI with custom ribbon, toolboxes etc.).

Frankly, it was a bit of luck, because originally I realized there are no key-ins, allowing to control ribbon minimize and restore. But, playing with different key-ins, I found this behavior :-)
