Green filename in Raster Manager

Does anyone know the significance of the green filename in Raster Manager? I haven't found any reference to it in the help or here.

I think I've seen this occur occasionally after fixing a broken filename (red), but I'm not positive. It's not a new phenomenon.

  • Thanks for the confirmation Brian.

    Further sleuthing has revealed:

If the original raster format is 'Ingr. TIFF', the Descartes Resize Canvas tool doesn't work because the format is not supported. This customer has many of these 'Ingr. TIFF' files from scans performed through the 1990's. Standard procedure is to use Resize Canvas to adjust the image to match the sheet extents.

In these cases, users typically convert the raster to Tagged Image via Save As. The Geo Priority is changed to Attachment as a side effect. The raster turns green in Raster Manager.

Using Save As one more time, leaving the format as Tagged Image and doing nothing other than creating a new file or overwriting the original removes the green.

Solution: Prior to executing the Save As, users should change the Geo Priority from Raster Header to Attachment. The filename will not be green after the conversion.

Thanks all for your time and input.

  • Maybe this is what is causing it. Attaching a new instance of the image setting Place Interactively to NO makes the Geo Priority field available. The only option I see is Attachment. The original raster attached reports Sister File not found, Geo Priority modified. What if you attach the file again and set the Geo Priority to Sister File?

  • Interesting. I downloaded your files & I see the rater file shows green in Raster Manager. Attaching the raster a second time shows the attachment as white (I use dark theme). I notice the background color for the drawing is set to a blue color (color 255 in the color table RGB value 0,0,65. seems like an odd background color, but......). I changed that to be black and the raster still shows green in the dialog. I detached the raster. I attached it again and it showed white instead of green

The interesting part is I wanted to undo everything so I went Undo All. The background changed back to the original blue color and the raster attachment changed to green.

Very odd behavior. Seeing as Undo All sets the raster file name back to green indicates that there is some operation affecting it. It's reminds me of other dialogs, like Models, where the active file is highlighted with a different color. In Raster Manager there is no setting to say this is the active file other than clicking on it to select it  for changing settings.

  • It is as Steve has said.  Download his dgn file and tif image to the same folder.  Open the dgn file, ( I used Power GEOPAK V8i SS10, Ver. 08.11.09.912), and open the Raster Manager.  The image is attached and is green.

Sorry I can not help any more than this.

  • I tried to replicate that and it will show up as red as expected when it can't find it.  Re-attaching/altering the path re-associates again but just has the normal black text and not green.  I think it's just something with MicroStation itself that now and again it will show it green on a successful re-association ....glitch in the Matrix so to speak.
