How to enter data field in MicroStation connect edition. I tried using underscore in text box to create a data filed. After placing the data field fill in option is not identifying that as a data field. all settings seem fine. what causes this problem?
What is the exact version no. (e.g. v10.x.y.z) of MicroStation that you are using? Use key-in VERSION to see the version no. in the MicroStation Message Center, or Help→About MicroStation in the backstage.
VERSION
See this blog that shows you how to obtain MicroStation's version number.

Try the Enter Data Field dialog?

Having placed Data Fields using the Enter Data Field dialog ( In Text Editor dialog, right click Insert Enter Data Field...) in MicroStation CONNECT Edition as Jon indicates its possible to edit the placed Data Fields using the 'Fill in single Enter Data Field' tool.
In previous versions it was possible to place underscore '_' characters using the Text Editor, which could also could be edited, using the 'Fill in single Enter Data Field' tool. (see this wiki) this is currently not possible to edit the placed '_' in the CONNECT Edition (Outstanding Bug 661140)

Hi,
I'm using 10.16.00.80 version. I tried right clicking in Text window and added the enter data field. That is working. Thank you for your help.
Isn't it finally time we got away from data fields and button up shoe laces?

You're probably right. But you'll have to start a mission to educate and inform the world of legacy CAD practices.
This table compares various ways of labelling and data attribution in MicroStation CONNECT. The table omits both tags and enter-data fields.
