Views completely blank

Dear all

I have recently installed Microstation Connection as part of my college subscription. The installation has been successful and my laptop is very well served in terms of hardware. It is a gaming laptop for a short description. However, as I try to open the DGN files from the example lists, my views tabs are either completely blank or completely black. Nothing appears on the screen, not even the xy arrows. Any thoughts on the issue.

  • Hi Diago,

you question looks like written by marketing team: How to write text without any informational value.

This is engineering CAD forum, so exactness is expected. And when technical issues are discussed, to provide a maximum of detail information is required.

I have recently installed Microstation Connection

No such product exists. I guess you mean MicroStation CONNECT Edition (usually shortened to MicroStation CE). But, please respect the best practices and specify its exact version/build number (you can use "version" key-in to obtain this information). There have been around 20 versions of MicroStation CE released so far in last few years and its not clear whether you use some old one or current Update 16.1.

It is a gaming laptop for a short description.

Sorry, but is totally useless information. What notebook (model)? From what manufacturer? In what HW configuration? Is there integrated graphics card, external, or both?

my views tabs are either completely blank or completely black.

Why you do not share a screen capture? Is the rest of MicroStation GUI fine or it is also displayed with some issues?

    Any thoughts on the issue.

Unfortunately, you shared zero information, so it is hard to guess.

Recommended first steps, when there is problem with MicroStation graphics, are:

    • Ensure Windows are completely updated.
    • Ensure graphics drivers are completely updated (including firmware, when possible, e.g. for Intel GPUs).
    • When dual GPU (integrated + external)  configuration is used, check how Windows are configured and what GPU is used by MicroStation.
    • Use DxDiag to do standard DirectX analysis and share the results.
    • Create GLSTATS report as described here. The wiki page is written for V8i, but works for CE also. Do not forget to open some design file to create complete statistics. Copy the report and share it.
