A colleague recieved a link to an ArcGIS mapping server and he needs to view the imagery in CONNECT. I am able to open the link and copy the WMTS link. I opened Raster Manager and selected New WMTS. I pasted the link into the Server field and I get a successful connection. There is only one layer displayed. Selecting the layer and clicking Add to Map I get a dialog that states "the selected layer has too many tiles to be previewed".
Is there any way to resolve this issue so the imagery can be displayed? I've never had luck attaching imagery from servers with WMS.
The link is for Centre County Pennsylvania - https://gissites4.centrecountypa.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Imagery2020/MapServer/WMTS/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml

Microstation CONNECT - 10.17.2.61
ORD - 2021 R1 10.10.1.3
ORD 2022 R1.1 - 10.11.3.2
ORD 2022 R3 - 10.12.2.4
Microstation v8i SS 10 - 08.11.09.919
Power InRoads v8i - 08.11.09.615
ProjectWise - 10.0.3.453
Don't waste your time. In v8i WMTS is not supported and in CONNECT it is in "lack of technology preview" state.
This error in U16 is improvement as previously it just crashed Microstation. There are some issue with ArcGIS nonstandard approach of serving WMTS which MS doesn't like. But users would like to be able to attach these anyway as QGIS has no issues using it. It is unlikely that WMS/WMTS servers will adjust for Bentley software.
Thanks for the replies. I knew it did not work in v8i and it is tech preview in CONNECT. I wasn't very hopeful that a solution existed. We have always had issue streaming aerial imagery because most of the servers we try to connect to are not true WMS servers. I had already instructed the user to have our GIS dept download the aerials in a format we could attach through Raster Manager. Usually jpeg2000 or Mr SID is what we use and that works.
I guess i was a little too optimistic that we would finally be able to stream aerial from servers.
yes I was disappointed too in v8i and in connect especially after it worked in QGIS.. however the bing option isnt too bad here .while the photo res isnt great all the time and not all areas have the latest.. but alot of wms servers dont have the latest and greatest either... getting an api key and setting the variable in our workspace config allows me to use bing in v8i too... there is a wiki about how to do this from Bentley.
