DWG file does not open (not recognized format)

Hi Jorge,

You file opens without any problem in MicroStation CONNECT update 16 version but gives the unrecognize format error in SS10.  This DWG is 2018 version and it is not supported in V8i versions. Support to DWG2018 came with CONNECT only.

Maria is of course correct, I run into this issue as well with DWG's from external consultants. I don't have CONNECT installed but I do use this site to convert DWG's to 2010 DWG format.

Use Adesk Trueview to downgrade to lower version.

As Microstation uses Autodesk Realdwg library this error is provided by library. It is strange Autodesk policy I never understood as it shows alarming error instead of message "file is in newer format, please update your outdated software".  It would be selling point for AutoCAD but instead we have to deal with angry users who are confused why are you sending corrupt files. 

It is easy to check file version if dwg is opened as text then first characters are plain text and contains version number why programs can't check it before showing stupid alarming errors is beyound me.

I use that application too and I love that it can batch convert .. but I dislike that you load the file with it and then have to retell it to save in place v2013 by repathing it  thro the add file even though  you just loaded it..  maybe I'm just not using it right.. but still its very good
