Hi everyone,
It's been a few years since I used MicroStation but being back in education, I thought I'd give it a try and install on my new machine. I'm having what I assume to be a glitch whereby all the toolboxes are so tiny, to the point where they are barely big enough to be clickable. I've tried changing the computer resolution but this does not affect MicroStation itself. I've looked through all View Preferences within MicroStation and cannot see anything that relates to this query, hence why I think it's a glitch. I've attached a screenshot.
Kind regardsDean
Would love to hear from the community if anyone knows a fix to this.
It looks like you're using a 4K display (screenshot is 3456 x 2234 pixels).
If so, have you tried the Windows Display options> Scale and Layout> 150% (or other options)? This will affect other software on your machine, but I believe it is possible to adjust display scales on a per-software basis.
Also look at Microstation preferences, adjust Layout and Tool Size if necessary. These are the settings on my 4K machine (along with 150% Windows display scale). Tools are small, but I like the extra space available for view windows.

Hi Max, thank you for your reply. Yes, tried both of those BUT, this time, I've matched your suggestions, clicked ok, THEN restarted MicroStation. They're ever so slightly bigger and at least usable. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Have a great day.

What is the exact version no. (e.g. v10.x.y.z) of MicroStation that you are using? Use key-in VERSION to see the version no. in the MicroStation Message Center, or Help→About MicroStation in the backstage.
VERSION
See this blog that shows you how to obtain MicroStation's version number.
What version of Windows are you using? The version of MicroStation you are using may not be certified for recent versions of Windows.

Also Dialog Font. Size 9 will appear tiny on a high-res screen. I believe that the UI will adjust itself when you specify a larger font size.

Many thanks Jon, much appreciated. I do believe there might be a compatibility issue as I’m on Windows 11. Thankfully it’s useable now, however I wI’ll certainly try the Dialog Font suggestion, thank you.

Bentley Systems have not certified MicroStation CONNECT for use with Windows 11.
The only version of MicroStation V8i that is certified for Windows 10 is SS10. It is unlikely that any version of V8i will be certified for Windows 11.
