Autocad has a new feature called Select Similar. The way it works is the user selects an element and then selects the option:select similar. This builds a selection set of all elements that share the same attributes: Level, cell name, etc.
What I would like is to pick an element and then select all similar elements on the same level or with same attributes, etc. With Power Selector I have to pick the element, then unselect the level or attributes in Power Selector and reselect the level and attributes in Power Selector to build a selection set of all elements with those attributes. Is there a way to make Power Selector select all elements that have the attributes of the selected element without having to unselect and reselect the attributes?
I am using Power Draft v8i
I think I found a solution that Bentley missed: Open the dgn with AutoCad and select one of your intended items, right-click and choose 'Select Similar'.
In this case, we have multiple dgns ref merged into one where each separate dgn included elements on a specific level. When the dgns are merged, those specific level names now include a prefix that Autocad will pick up as a 'similar' element, but MicroStation will not - without sorting through the entire level list in the SelectByAttributes tool.
Verdict:
AutoCad = 3 clicks.
MicroStation = 15+ clicks (Depending on how many levels you need to select and *IF* you catch all of those levels on the first try).
