Is this possible?

RE: Clip Volume Settings

Just to add to the discussion regarding the use of Clip Volumes in Bentley View CONNECT Edition. This option was added in Update 14 and is only available in the current session due to the design files being opened as Read Only.

Bentley View CONNECT Edition Update 14 (10.14.00.109)

Clip Volume Tool
You can now create a Clip Volume for the current session of Bentley View. This allows you to isolate and narrow the focus on a smaller region of the file that is being viewed. The clip volume is not saved when you exit out of Bentley View.

RE: Clip Volume Settings

You've given me the solution, by asking when open a file it is read only. So I have to change this in the masterfile. And it's working. But I still think, the display style must be free to choose wether you are in all views or Clip volume.

RE: Clip Volume Settings

I'm familiar with their use, but I can't think why you don't have the option to change the display styles for the clip volume planes

RE: Clip Volume Settings

Yes they are read only. But can be presented in other display styles. But doesn't work with Clip volume. Clip Volumes is a very powerfull tool for coordination with other disciplines. Cause other platforms for BIM is a standard tool. And it is important for projectmanagers. They can use snipping of windows for solutions.

RE: Clip Volume Settings

Are files opened in Bentley View always read only?

RE: Clip Volume Settings

Yes you may create ClipVolumes.

RE: Clip Volume Settings

I've never used Bentley View so I'm unsure of its capabilities.

Thank you for your responce. But this question for using Bentley View Connect Edition Update 15 Version 10.15.00.75

When I go to my client for project coordination, I use a laptop, so I must open Bentley View. And the project that I work on is a big warehouse. So it is easy to use Clipvolume when other disciplines are modelled in 3D using other platforms.

.

RE: Clip Volume Settings

Hi Andy,

I don't have any problems selecting the those pulldown menu's in V8i. I guess the first thing I would check the Option values you have in the illustration Display Style settings:

For the Clip Volume part of the view attributes dialog to be visible there needs to be at least 1 clip volume in the model, so I presume that you do actually have one.

Usable for Clip Volumes only enables that style to be selected in the Clip Volume pulldowns and be applied to the chosen Clip Volume plane.

It would be easy to assume that its yet another bug in CONNECT, but you need to confirm what you do actually have a Clip Volume.

Do you get the same unselectable pulldown menu's if you have any other Display Style applied to a view?
