No, they cannot be "imported".

MicroStation V8i and MicroStation CONNECT Edition represent very different platforms, not only because V8i is 32bit and CE is 64bit, but also because of reworked and upgraded programming API (from mostly C to C++).

It means, every V8i application must be migrated (transformed) into format, that is compatible with MicroStation CE. See wiki pages linked by Maria Garcia for the migration process description and requirements.

Technically, the source code have to be modified and recompiled. How complex this process is depends a lot on how the application is written (structured, documented...) and using what language. When it is old (and not supported in V8i) MDL code, compiled into .ma, it may require a lot of work. When it is more modern C application, compiled into .ma + .dll, less source code modifications are required.

In my experience, to convert source code is only one part of the whole process. MicroStation CE is different in many ways (ribbon, workspace structure...), so sometimes the application (its functionality, settings, dgnlibs when used etc.) has to be adapted to the new platform.

Any  particular  old mdls that you want? .. I might have new versions  for CE or VBA's to do similar.. 

PM  me and maybe we can exchange utilities .. I still work in v8i but use CE when needed...

I would also be curious as to what the MDLs do ?  There may be new functionality inside of the CONNECT edition that may get you what you want without the need for the old MDLs.....
