I'm investigating nested parametric cells and I'm curious about their usefulness based on what I am experiencing. I've created a nested parametric cell which consists of a line which has 4 nested drilled shaft parametric cells in it and constrained on the line.
When I place the parametric cell for the line I only see the variables for the that cell and not the drilled shafts.
After placement I can see the drilled shaft variables when looking at element properties, but they are greyed out and I can't change them.
Is there a way to make the variables accessible for the nested drilled shaft cells? Or is this working as designed?
from my experience nested cells do not really work, when you constrain the nested "child" cells in the parent cell. Inside of my cell library the constraints work fine, but when I place the parent cell with its nested child cell inside a new file some of the constraints of the child are deleted. So better check if the constraints perform well after placing the cell from the library in your work file.
If this works fine you can connect variables of the child cell to variables in the mother cell, as a workaround until the parametrics get an update. You can do that in the properties of the child cell, after you have placed it in the parent cell, while still being in the cell library were you are "building" the nested cell. But this also means, that you have to "repeat" the variables you want to change, in the mother cell and this is really annoying.

thanks for the info. Yes I'm discovering that the nested cell avenue is basically a dead end, pity, it has such potential.
