Hi,
I have a DGN file that crashes Microstation Connect Update 16 during a simple Save Settings (filedesign command in key-ins).
I don't understand why. I hope someone can help me in this forum.
I tested this on Windows 10 and Windows Serve 2019. Same error.
I attached the original file and the log file generated by Microstation.
7762.exception.log
8838.test.dgn
We've seen the same thing. Either with the keyin or also by clicking the Save Settings Button. It may not crash immediately, and certain other functions may contribute. We first noticed this working with references and the reference manager but tracked it down to a filedesign command in one of our automatic scripts. Regie was involved and was able to reproduce though I did not get a defect #.
Thanks
Ray
Thanks for your answer. Anyway, file was generated by a batch convert (to merge references) with Microstation V8i and something went wrong since it is corrupted (reference file graphical elements was not merged completely...).
If I use batch convert from Connect everything seems ok.
We found that "save settings", either through the menu or keyin, initiated an instability in microstation that would manifest after a while. If save settings was not clicked, we didn't have a problem with identical workflow.

My MicroStation CE U16.2, used with Windows 11 (which is not yet supported version) crashes when I try to open the file.
It would be interesting to know how the source files were created: I see cells like <From Smart Solid>, so I assume it is a section from some discipline specific application?

Debugger reports Access Exception at DgnPlatform5!Bentley::DgnPlatform::ElementRefBase::ValidateElementRef, so as you also, the file looks corrupted.

When the file is corrupted, usually no way how to repair it exists. I assume, because you mentioned batch convert in CE works fine, that it the right solution that can be used.
Alternative approach is to attach the file as reference to empty model and to merge the file. After this operation, the new file looks fine.

Hi, thanks for your time, but don't waste more time :-) File is corrupted but I have the original, so no problem.Anyway, I think a product like Microstation should have a better "exception handling" system...
Thank you again.
