Church organ pedals for CAD
Right now, in an intense phase of production I wonder, since many years BTW, why we don’t use foot pedals like with the old church organ? Imagine you step Left to get ”Element select” and R to get “Undo (Ctrl+Z)”. These, or maybe others, are some of the most used commands, for me at least. Actually, you can expand with several pedals like in the church; impressive to see when they do a JS Bach fugue. In CAD though, over and over again you have to go up and to the tool bar… The productivity upgrade with church organ pedals should be awesome.
Has anyone already invented this gadget? If so, please….
Already do this with a MMO gaming mouse.
Hi Ingemar,
A company called MediaChance has two Windows programs that let you repurpose either midi input devices or spare computer keyboards.
Multi-Keyboard Macros allows you to add multiple keyboards to Windows and make them fully Programmable
Midi Keyboard Macros allows you to use various MIDI devices to act as a Macro triggers.
Thanks for feedback. I know about macros, but the foot pedal idea is that when both hands are occupied with a mouse and key-ins you expand your actions with the feet; just like aircraft pilots. I didn´t find any such Midi device at a first google, but if you know please let me know.
I did a google search for midi foot pedal controller which brought up many results.
Don't forget the correct footware !; https://www.whiteselorgans.com/understanding-organ-shoes/pipe-organ/
Such a great idea - JS Bach would have been quite a remarkable cad tech guy if around today!
I've often thought of productivity improvements, including voice commands. Imagine an automatic "Undo Ctrl-Z" every time you mutter "Oops"?
