Church organ pedals for CAD
Right now, in an intense phase of production I wonder, since many years BTW, why we don’t use foot pedals like with the old church organ? Imagine you step Left to get ”Element select” and R to get “Undo (Ctrl+Z)”. These, or maybe others, are some of the most used commands, for me at least. Actually, you can expand with several pedals like in the church; impressive to see when they do a JS Bach fugue. In CAD though, over and over again you have to go up and to the tool bar… The productivity upgrade with church organ pedals should be awesome.
Has anyone already invented this gadget? If so, please….
Thanks for feedback. I know about macros, but the foot pedal idea is that when both hands are occupied with a mouse and key-ins you expand your actions with the feet; just like aircraft pilots. I didn´t find any such Midi device at a first google, but if you know please let me know.
I did a google search for midi foot pedal controller which brought up many results.
Don't forget the correct footware !; https://www.whiteselorgans.com/understanding-organ-shoes/pipe-organ/
Such a great idea - JS Bach would have been quite a remarkable cad tech guy if around today!
I've often thought of productivity improvements, including voice commands. Imagine an automatic "Undo Ctrl-Z" every time you mutter "Oops"?
Looks like you already have the answer:
Midi Keyboard Macros triggered by a Midi Foot Controller, or maybe two?
Or even simpler, a non-latching foot switch? I’m not sure how they work…
I just have to figure out how to set up a system which doesn’t need any further visual confirmation or extra clicks. The eyes are continuously on the screen and the left or right foot hits a pedal. (Like the pilots do)
You may have an idea even for that? Thanks, Ingemar

What's more, your CAD operations will become tuneful. Your colleagues will enjoy listening as you compose a new building.

there was a post a very long time ago about a programmable extra keypad Xbutton? they even had a program to steal icons and print to adhesive sheets to make the labels for the buttons.. I saw a foot pedal operated mouse years ago for people that had lost or born with no limbs...but voice activated like google assistant on my phone would be real cool getting better all the time .. But love the oops button voice activation of Ctl Z ..
