You will still need to try David's suggestion to find out where these linestyles are coming from.

It's far less likely a "bug" in V8i than it is that your V8i and CONNECT configurations are not identical.

Well, it can be, but - based on my experience - likely not ;-)

Further testing is required, using MicroStation V8i:

Exists this problem only in one design file, regardless what workspace is used, and other files are fine?
In such case, DGN file is probably corrupted.
Exists the problem in different files, but only in specific workspace?
Probably a combination of workspace setting, and how DGN file was created, leads to the issue.
Exists the problem in all files, regardless what workspace is used?
It can be both MicroStation bug, but I think MicroStation miss-configuration is more probable.

Not everything is automatically "bug in a product", often workspace configuration is not right, or there a minor incompatibility / conflict between workspace and DGN content.

When you open the file in CONNECT Edition, you changed context (workspace configuration) completely.

Hi Andrew. the same drg open in connect is fine (no duplicate appear). The issue happen when open in v8i SS10.

Any thought ?

That's a great advice. I have open the same drg in connect and the issue is not there (Great). The issue happen when I open the drg in v8i SS10.

Could there is bug in v8i ?

You will have to determine where these line styles are coming from. Using the Line Styles dialog you can check this see below:

If defined in multiple resources you may have to do some cleanup so they are no longer listed.

Line Styles can also be contained in your Design Libraries (DGNLIB), as well as the DGN file, so you might also need to see whether they are coming from the DGNLIB files in your workspace. I would not think that AutoCAD would contain these Line Styles.

Hi Andrew, thank you for answering my question. I have checked and I do have multi RSC files in the folder that I am pointing to. But those linestyle are not even in my RSC. Could AUTOCAD setting will cause it ?

Could it be that you're pointing to multiple RSC files or folders containing your Line Styles? There may be multiple RSC files containing Line Styles with the same name. Have a look at what the configuration variable MS_SYMBRSRC is pointing to. Are there multiple folders listed?
