Can Open Roads use Print Organizer?

I was wondering if Open Roads can use Print Organizer.

When I run through the steps in Open Roads CONNECT Edition 2020 Release 3, I select 'Add Active File to Set' and it runs through the plan sheets that I have created with named boundaries. However, after the visual disappears and I have only the Print Organizer window up, there are no files added to my pset folder.

If I open this exact same file in MicroStation CONNECT Edition, I am able to add my plan sheets to the .pset folder.

Does Open Roads have the capabilities to use print organizer? Or is this a function that only works in MS CONNECT?

  • ORD does work with Print Organizer.

One thing to check is the Print Style you are using. If it does not find the print area, it will not add the dgn file to the pset.

The most common problem I've seen with this is that that Print Style has a shape definition for the print fence, and the shape is not found in the dgn file. In that case the file is not added to the pset.

With Named Boundaries, you should have sheet models for each of your sheets if you've carried the process all the way through. You can use the Sheet definition in the Print Style for the print area. You could also load the Sheet models into the Sheet Index. From there it's one click to transfer them to Print Organizer.

  • Thanks for the suggestion, Rod.

I was able to find a workaround to get the print organizer to work.  Although it still did not do what I had hoped, I was able to create a shape in my border reference and have the print organizer search for that particular level.

  • I have experienced this and what I found was to make sure the model that contains your sheet or your print item has its model set as the default model.  I had two sheets out of a set that were not set as a default model and they would not show up because the print boundary was not in the model that the dgn was defaulting to.
