Zoom window from one view to another view, why don´t connect edition do the same as V8i ?

Hi Tom the tool you highlited is the source view  yet the dialog says to apply it  to view 1 it should be view 2

It works the same  in both versions for me but you have to be careful when choosing the source view  view 1  and the applies to  view 2 in the dialog

Sometimes I want to have my o0verview in View 2, yet direct my window area to View 1. Saves me a lot of zooming in and out. The tools allow that, so there's nothing wrong with what Tom is doing.

Tom Did it wrong which is why it didnt work for him in Connect ed same as it did in v8i,  but you can do it anyway you want  but you must  use a different  window for the apply if you want it  to zoom to an other window  in Toms Connect ed screen print  the left hand window is view 1  and the apply to view is also view 1 so it didn't work for him in connect hence my  post saying be careful to make sure the source view and destination view are not the same..

it needed the apply window to be set to the other window  ie 2 not 1

I think you need to take a look at the help file description of the Window Area command. His usage was not wrong, it was perfectly acceptable; he was just trying to do this (as described by MaryB above):

Toms post if you want that to work then set it  as above and data point in active window 1 will zoom to or apply to view 2  per setting in dialog see his dialog he has the apply set to view 1 so all zooming will apply to view 1 not view 2 as he wanted it needs to be the apply window... so why are we going round in circles  your example has the apply to dialog to view 1 so all zooms not matter which window will zoom to the apply window in your example view 1.. which is as the help and your example and is what I've been saying...

the apply window no dialog is where it will apply the resultant zoom in...
