Loosing dwg reference attachments override settings [CE 16.2]

I have floorplans to be attached to my drawngs. As many others I want my flooplan references greyed out.

I generally work in dgns. I attach the floorplan, Set the overrides of all levels to grey and switch the reference >Presentation "Level Overides" on. That works well with dgn-references. Yet often I just attach dwg-floorplans. I was under the impression that with the attachment of an dwg I should be able to also use the overrides. And so it appears. But after reopening the overide settings are lost.(To be more precise:The Presentation Level Overide is still on but the attachments overides colors are all lost)

I am sure that I used this ever so often for DWG-attachments as well. But now it does not work any more(?) If my memory serves correctly we had the issue on an off with previous versions(?)  .I am increasingly doubting my recollection when I am seeing issues long time overcome popping up again.

Perhaps someone could test this with V8i to see if the behaviour has changed in CONNECT?

Yes, it works fine and retains the override settings after closing and reopening.

  • Have you tried saving a DWG to DGN? Which version of V8 are you using here?

  • I avoid the conversion process it inherits the autocad colour table into the dgn  file and  I need the dgn to be a dgn colour table especially when clients have custom colour tables... The way I do things for acad conversion to dgn is to create new dgn with correct seed file and colour table etc. then ref attach the autocad dwg then create a selection to cover the dwg  and use copy elements to copy all the elements I want etc into the msnt  dgn this works much more reliably for me and doesnt  bring bad elements or phantoms etc from acad. The merge command should work too but sometimes I get rubbish I cant delete or see but its in the level this comes mostly from acad hatch patterns and  from shared cells...

Its advisable to compress or purge your DWGs first and the same for microstation you should compress from time to time.. saves a lot of heart ache later..
