Microstation V8i SS10 - When I hit the middle button to pan, it doesn't release when I let go. The result is a sudden "zoom extents" the next time I hit the middle button. I tried what was relevant in this discussion:

to no avail. Xbutton1 set to pan drag
Is your middle button assigned as Xbutton 1?Just checking, in case the assignment doesn't match. If you don't have an "XButton", you can assign "pan drag" to any other mouse button combination you like. For example, I have virtually no need for "buttonaction 3ddata" so I assigned my "pan drag" to Alt+Tentative.

Thank you. I do have the middle button set to XButton 1. I can't seem to change what the middle button is assigned to.
Could you share a screenshot of the "Remap Button" dialog?
How many buttons does your mouse have?Mine has six, but MicroStation only recognizes three of them, so there could be something like that going on, especially if you have a "special" mouse.
See below. I have a basic 3-button mouse.
Hmmm...that *should* work.
If you assign "pan drag" to something like Shift+Data, does the command work correctly then?
Pan is so antiquated. Use this key-in, on a function key (or?) "zoom in 1"
