Lost Font

I just installed Open Roads.  I have been using Microstation Connect Edition Update 16. I had a font called 101 Leroy that was linked to several of my line styles.  It has now disappeared and has been replaced with 101 Feature_Control_Symbols.  This has happened in the past when I upgraded to a newer version and I was able to correct it, but the path is no longer the same. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve the original font please?

  • Hi Jane,

    Thanks for your post.

I think there are a couple of things to consider, but generally the approach would be the same for ORD when compared to regular MicroStation.
First, what does the Message Center say? Is there anything here that can give you a clue about what font is missing?

Once you find some clues from the Message Center, you will need to determine the location of this font file on your machine. There are 3 types of font files to be aware of: RSC, SHX, & TTF.
    RSC - Bentley resource file
TTF - Windows true type font
    SHX - Autodesk font file

Once you have found the correct font file, copy the file's directory to your clipboard (for example, C:/Users/Jayson.Perry/Desktop/Fonts/)
Next, open the application you are working with. Navigate to File>Settings>Configuration>Configuration Variables>Symbology category>MS_FONTPATH
Select this configuration variable, select "Edit", and then add a semicolon to the existing value and then paste your font file directory. The dialog will look something like this. I typically use the "Overwrite" Edit Mode, but you can also set this to Append/Prepend as well.

If you are working with custom line styles, another configuration variable to keep in mind would be MS_SYMBRSRC. This configuration variable reads .rsc resource files. MS_DGNLIBLIST is another config variable to keep in mind (for .dgnlib file pathways). I would check your configurations on the application that is working and compare it to the new application.
