Hi,
I have searched the forums but cannot seem to find an answer.
Is there a variable anywhere that will set the default directory of the open dialog box to that of the current design file?
Or will this have to be achieved with a key-in?
I am using CONNECT update 15.
Thanks
I can't think of a Configuration Variable that provides that, however, if the File Open works as it does in V8i, entry No.1 in the Directory drop-down list should take you to the folder of the currently opened DGN file.
On my version of connect, the no.1 entry in the drop down is not the folder of the currently opened DGN file but the most recently opened DGN file
I've no idea if its changed in CONNECT. If you don't have a DGN opened, it will take you to the folder of the last opened DGN file. However, if you have a DGN open, it updates to that folder path. Thats the V8i behaviour.
Alternatively, you can create your own CFG variable e.g.
CurrentDgnFolder = $(dir(_DGNFile))
Then you can change the directory using that variable from the File Open, though I'd be surprised if that was necessary.
Barry,
Thanks for the response.
So I would need to create a .cfg file and place that command within it? How would I then call it from within Microstation?
Sorry, I have no experience of creating my own CFG variables.
I would, but you can also just add the line to your .ucf file. Configuration files are just text files with a .cfg extension. They need to be stored in a location where MicroStation will read the file during startup. I’m sure a Connect user can advise a typical folder path where it can be stored.
