Hi everyone,
Do you know whether it is possible to select custom Property Definition Type inside New Property Type as shown on the screenshot below?
So I would like to change the type of "MCB" Property Definition to "MCB" (STEP2). Similarly as it is done for the STEP 1.
Best regards,
Jacek Soroko
Hi Jacek,
Thanks for your post. Based on what I see so far, I think you could benefit from following the instructions contained in this Wiki article:https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/23933/how-to-create-a-custom-property-typeYou would first need to create a New Property Type. The icon would look like this:
Here is the help documentation on the Item Types dialog for reference:https://docs.bentley.com/LiveContent/web/MicroStation%20Help-v20/en/ItemTypes.html
I hope this helps.Regards,Jayson P.
Hi Jayson,
If you create a property type, you can pick that TYPE to a property from the picklist OK
I guess the point of Jacek may be this BUT:
One can add a PROPERTY to a TYPE (why what is the purpose here ?to later copy them to different ITEMS later?) But for this property you can not select the very TYPE that it resides under.
Hi Gerd,
Thanks for your feedback.
That is indeed my problem. I would like to have an array within another array. So I have two new property types "Distribution Board" and "MCB" (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and I am trying to set "MCB" as a type of one Property Definition that resides in property type "Distribution Board".
Jacek.
Thanks for your reply.
I am fine with setting a custom property type within the New Item Type. The problem is when I am trying to set a custom property type (MCB) within another Property Type (Distribution Board). I am trying to have an array within an array. Something like JSON format allow you to do.
Jacek
I am still not happy with the handling of items for the end user. This is why I am still reluctant to dig deeper... But my take from recent threads is that development is on it. I am waiting for progess at that end, thats why I am not yet building something serious like you appear to try to achieve.
I have not looked into what you can achieve when you put your picklist to be drawn from exteral sources(Excel)
