V8i - References not saving position after moving the reference

In 9 years I've never had this happen until the last week or so.

I've run through all settings that I can think of.

Issue: While moving a reference in any file it moves just fine. Annotations move with it. Edits to clips look fine and everything is great. Save and exit the file. The next time I open the file all of the annotations are where they are supposed to be, but the reference is back in its original spot with no edits saved. I can't figure this one out.

We use managed workspaces, but this has been an issue regrdless of which one I am in. I have save setting upon exit shut off but use "save settings" when I make changes to layers, references and such. I thought maybe that was the issue but linework and elemaent changes are set to save automatically. I've never had a change to the position of a reference not save where it is located after being moved.

  • It may be worth mentioning to the people in charge of your managed network.

It is a strange one, and something I haven't heard of before. Plenty of posts over the years about level states, but I don't recall any about location not saving.

If you have the Preference "Save Settings to Save Changes" for reference files turned on, does it make a difference if you turn it off?

    Referencing DGN files

It doesnt seem to matter if it is a saved view or managed clip. I turned save setting on exit back on and so far this has solved the issue. I don't know why that would matter when I save settings after changing anything in references. I don't like having save settings applied upon exiting a drawing. This issue just seemed to apear out of nowhere. I guess Ill just have to live with it.

  • What version of the software are you using? Specific version number would be most helpful.

How are these references attached, and what type of files are they? DGN, Rasters, DWG, something else? Is there a GCS applied, or with a GCS translation? Are they direct attachments or Saved Views?

I know you said you are dealing with a Managed Workspace. If you are NOT in the managed environment, do you see this same problem?
