Hi,
I am understanding MicroStation selection behavior for Graphic Group (GG), as there are some legacy models contains such attributes. When reading What is actually a "Graphic Group"? - MicroStation Forum - MicroStation - Bentley Communities I think the behavior is GG should be selected and highlighted as a single element, however when I create a GG (the GG lock is ON) it still select and highlight each component separately. Any idea of the selection behavior?

For the Element Selection tool, if you want the entire graphic group selected when you pick any element in the group. use "Add" mode.

Interesting, and not entirely intuitive. Is that documented anywhere?
Thanks for the tip. I never bother with "Add" so I would have never found it.

Long ago there existed 2 select tools, Element Selection and Power Selector. Element Selection didn't select graphic groups, Power Selector only operated in Add or Remove mode and did select graphic groups. When the tools were combined behavior of the respective modes was preserved to minimize disruption to existing workflows...at least that's how I remember it.
Thank you Brien! I found only when GG lock is On and Selection mode is "Add", then the GG can be highlighted as a single element. On the other hand, the GG lock status doesn't be saved into document as I close and reopen the same file, the GG lock is off again.
Did you "Save Settings" before closing the file?
Oh... Yes, after clicking "save settings" the settings are saved. Reopen the model the setting is back. Also I noticed when create a new document these settings are on as well, so I assume the saved settings are global for MicroStation?
