[CE17 and older..] Localisation "disables" functionality

Switching the language is great we work in a localized version of MicroStation. And swich to English when you have issues to explain here or for SRs

After upgrading to CE17 English first I added the language pack a little later when it was available.

Several functions do not work any more switching to the other language.

E.G.

the SPACEBAR Popup

The paths to the functions are hardcoded and this does not switch changing the localisation

Another  thing it does not find - for the same reason - one is the macros not found

I noted about that issue before but it was not picked up...

  • Hi Gerd Eisenacher,

Did you report this to the German Technical support team to verify if They can reproduce it and if it happens with all the localized language packs?

Are you referring to the delivered SPACEBAR Popup or  a Customized SPACEBAR Popup?

The delivered Spacebar pop up seems to work for me in Spanish, I also installed the German language pack and it seems to work. See video

The pop up appears with the different common tools right at my cursor and displays between brackets the different numbers\letters (keys) to call them, it seems to work on my side when I press the different keys, same with the German language packs.

Please provide more information to verify what exactly does not work with the SPACEBAR Popup, maybe specific keyboard shortcuts, which ones?

Also the one related to macros not found? when are you getting this alert?

How many  people in your company are having issues after installing the languages packs? did you have any initial issue after installing the Full pack in English or the language pack? any error  that you can recall? did you install those from software download website or via Connection Client?

Have you try to do a  MicroStation Repair from Windows Control panel\Programs and feature ?

or maybe uninstall the software and install it again from scratch from Software downloads?

  • Hi Maria,

the point is that - after installing - the language pack - and then switching the language in the Preferences to English the popup does not work. Please revisit my initial post.

I was placing it here as I assumed that will affect all localisations.

I have raised that sometime before with a earlier CE version, though I do not recall where. (I sitll sometimes get disarrayed between the thresholding ways) I have no capacity to test all the questions that you ask and I guess that is exactly what the test scenarios of development need to address while beta testing.
