In design, history is there a way to keep track of time spent daily in a file?
What I would like to be able to do is keep track of the time spent on a project each day.
I may work on multiple projects in one day, and I need to keep track of this time for billing. This information would also be able to help bid for jobs.
not sure on the options in design history but I found this in "Items"....

I am not using item sets. I don't know if it's worth the time. I have never looked into the tool.
I can get this information from the properties, but not daily time spent.
This a snapshot in v8i ss10

I can relate...from the looks, it appears to be total editing time as well for the Items.
Hi Kirk,

I think it is not possible, because design file history is the tool to track content changes (what was added, modified or removed), not how long it took.
By default,. only total editing time is recorded.
Maybe, such functionality could be added through some extra application, but for the first thought is looks like trying to use a particular feature for some other task than designed and implemented.

They are plenty of time tracking software available, many from them offer basic functionality for free.
As developer, I am paid based on hours (and on fixed time / fixed price project, I am interested in how much time I spent on the project too), so I use these tools really daily, every minute ;-) Just for curiosity, as I do not want to do any marketing here, I use free plan of Toggle Track..
I think to use such software is better than to do it in MicroStation, because the work on project is not only "to use MicroStation" or "to write code".

I am not sure if you mean "Item Types" and if you mean V8i or CE feature, but Item Types (together with Expressions and Reports) are code functionality for any intelligent modeling, BIM and many other tasks.
