In design, history is there a way to keep track of time spent daily in a file?
What I would like to be able to do is keep track of the time spent on a project each day.
I may work on multiple projects in one day, and I need to keep track of this time for billing. This information would also be able to help bid for jobs.
not sure on the options in design history but I found this in "Items"....

I am not using item sets. I don't know if it's worth the time. I have never looked into the tool.
I can get this information from the properties, but not daily time spent.
This a snapshot in v8i ss10

DGN Chronographer is a utility for MicroStation V8i: DGN Chronographer provides a means to sort and filter elements chronologically. That is, it compares an element's time stamp with a given date or time, then builds a list of elements sorted by the time stamp.
It's not an accounting tool, for which the OP is asking.

Could be repurposed for this also just need to get time difference between last and first edited element in file for each day. Of course it will not be super accurate as won't account idle time if for example file was edited in morning then closed and edited in the evening. But for time tracking there is already design history but it is hard to use as requires setup and self-discipline if forget to post changes then will not get total time.

Who will fund the development? Nobody showed any interest in DGN Chronographer for MicroStation V8i. That is, nobody purchased a license, even the guy who originally asked for it.
We have no reason to believe that a CONNECT version would be any more popular.

Unfortunately yes. Didn't notice it is for v8i only.
