Is there any way to make 3d terrain from geotiff like in Qgis or other software by one click ?
I hope that in 2022 in Connect there is possible cos 3d terrain is basic project need.
Yes it is not cost effective cos i only will use from time to time to 3d terrain or 3d buildings ( gml format and glft not read by Microstation ) from geoportal geotiff / wms etc... Thanks for suggestion - will add descartes > 8 days of trial is ok to me - but this basic functionality thay can add to Microstation
I attached as a raster grid but what now ? It looks like flat image - not 3d mesh
Through Descartes you can create either a Scalable Mesh (.3sm) or a Scalable Terrain Model (.stm) by using your Geotiff as the elevation source. Both of these formats give you a 3D terrain model that can be used in MicroStation Connect.

The process is similar for creating either a .3sm file or a .stm file.
Look in the help to better understand the pros and cons of each format. This may help you decide which format will best fit your needs.
For using this type data, shape files, etc., I purchased a program called Global Mapper. They hit me up for $240 US every year, but still cheaper than Bentley. I would imagine QGIS can convert the geotiff to something usable in Microstation, it is a bit of a learning curve. My long term plan is to replace Global Mapper with QGIS, still a few things I need that it won't do, but they constantly upgrade the thing. Now if I could just find an Open Source CAD program to replace Microstation, it would be goodbye Bentley.
