I have a dgn that seems to have some fubar notes. The text is strangely far from the leader line on many of the notes.
I can't seem to get it to reset to a style. I though it was just an excessive left margin but when i put that to 0 the text does not move.

Trying to reset notes or change their style has never been a consistent process. A lot of times, there's nothing you can do to fix them once the style goes bad. I usually have to just recreate them.

That sounds awful to have to constantly do that. I hate how notes are implemented in MicroStation; so much so that I only ever use a separate Text/Text Node and Note Arrow to ensure consistent predictable behaviour.
Yes, notes are hands-down my least favorite element. If you get them right, they are OK. But if you have to change ANYTHING (other than text editing) they are opaque, obtuse, and nigh impossible to alter correctly.
