[CE U17] Why do Item labels place on Level 0 ? and other issues with item labeling ... still

When I place a Item text (label) they are placed on Level "0"

1. I would expect them to be on the active level (at least!)

Better I need them to be on a specific level. This would allow me to have some labels visible or not depending on what I need to see in a specific context.

One needs to move the label to the right level one by one. Is that the workflow? That does not feel right.

Also:

2.The visibility icons (in the localized version are barely visible - SR filed )

3. The new editing dialog (when you doubleclick a label) appears not to work right. I am not able to switch visibility.

  • Hi Gerd,

We have addressed all three issues mentioned in your post and you should get it in the upcoming version 10.17.01.XX build.
For case 1. Now the Item Type Text Field will be placed on active level.

    Thanks,
    Abhay

  • Abhay,

I have 10.17.01 installed and it is not working as you are describing.

Anyhow it is just a very bad concept.

The levels should be kept as they are used in the labelling cell. As all normal cells work in microstation for years.

That is the only way you can place part of a label on a different level than other parts of the label.

    I asked this years before.

But apparently too simple and too logical....

    Very disappointing.

  • Explaining that a hammers head needs to be steel and its  shaft wood when the manufacturer delivers it the other way around.

  • I apologies for the confusion.
If you are referring about the Issues No.1 and Issue No.2 in Gerd’s post, which are fixed in MS 10.17.01.58 version.
Refer the attached video for the same.

You can get fix of issue No.3 in upcoming MS 10.17.02.XX version.
If you are talking about different issue, then please share your data-set and detailed steps to reproduce the same.

  • Abhay,

I tried to explain with a little video.

First I place the cell as a normal cell. As you can see information in this cell is on two different levels. So dependent on the sheet I can choose to give more or less info.

Then I place the cell as a label. Everything comes on the same level - defined by the dimension style I use.

For me this is very contra intuitive. I hope you agree....

BTW I think there was one version of microstation in which you could double click on a label cell - and you got an interface to change the different values. This is not working in the last version. You really have to choose the element with the items attached and this is sometimes very clumsy.

  • Right that’s ugly. And the editing dialog when I last tried was unacceptable slow when a lot items are present in a file. Best way I found is the properties dialog that shows also the attached items to a element. Just may want to fold some generic categories.
