I have F1 set to Key Point Snap, but when I hit F1 while the Text Editor is open, it opens the help rather than setting the snap. How do I fix this?
It does that as it appears to be hard-coded into MicroStation to load the help. I have it assigned to View Top and fairly frequently the help file loads up.
A simple solution is to rename your help file and create a shortcut to it that CHM file.
Can you help me out on the solution?
1. Where is the help file?
2. What do you mean by create a shortcut?
Well, this is not the same as using a single function key but, I have my mouse Button Assignments set so ctrl + reset brings up the snaps menu at my cursor. Then I just select the snap I want.
ctrl+reset inputmanager menu tentativepopup
You could do something like that but have the action set to use a specific snap mode without the snap menu opening.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did like you said, but it is going to be hard to break 20+ years of muscle memory of hitting the F1 key.
Ideally, it would just work like it did before. *sigh*
Hi Brian, if Jayson’s additional suggestions don’t solve your issue, an extra step which is also worth considering is you could remap your F1 key to another key (or key combo), using AutoHotKey. This would allow you to map your current F1 command to the other key but still press F1 to activate it, and it would only change that behaviour in MicroStation.
I like that idea, will have to set aside some time to learn how to write the script though. Thanks for the suggestion.
Oh its extremely simple, take a look at this post where I demonstrate a script that changes the function of the Left & Right cursor keys, which instead use the assignment of 2No function keys. It shouldn't take long to tweak it for your purposes.
