Is there a way to convert cell libraries from 3D to 2D. All of the cells in the libraries are really 3D (i.e. flat), and should just be top-view 2D cells. I thought I could use Batch Converter somehow, but I don't see a way.
Ultimately, I would like a file with the same models/cells as the original 3D models, but in 2D.
Hi Josh,
FWIW:MicroStation CONNECT Edition Help says:
Cells are used in 3D modeling in a manner similar to 2D. You can place a 2D cell in a 3D model and vice-versa. When a 3D cell is placed in a 2D model, it is placed as a Top view orientation. That is, with its X and Y design axes matching that of the 2D model's X and Y design axes.
Conversion is probably not necessary if you are trying to convert the 3D cells to 2D in order to use them in a 2D file. They should already work as you describe, by default.
Regards,Ron
If a cell library contain massive drawing symbols in 3D model, would the conversion to 2D model make MicroStation load the library faster?
